Signs of Abuse

Changes in Behavior occur such as:

• Frequent Loss of Memory
• Less Tolerant, more Irritable and Anxious
• Depressed
• Moody
• Withdrawn
• Disorganized

Other Serious Issues:

• Insomnia
• Anorexia – Loss of Appetite

There will be changes in the person’s physical appearance:

• Fatigue
• Slurred speech
• Shaking or profuse sweating
• Weight loss

EARLY TREATMENT
Treatment of a drug or alcohol problem may prevent you, your colleague, or your loved one from causing injury to a patient, job loss, loss of a professional license or loss of life.

AFTERCARE CONTRACT
After treatment, the recovering pharmacist signs an Aftercare Contract with PRN. The contract assists the pharmacist in the continuing process of recovery by giving PRN tools in which to monitor that recovery. The contract is one which has been used with Indiana Board of Pharmacy approval.

PATHWAYS
The PRN program is designed to facilitate appropriate entry into pathways of treatment and recovery for pharmacists who have experienced drug or alcohol problems in their personal and professional lives.
