COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNTIES

  1. Volunteer to help at your church
    1. Cleaning. Painting, re-organizing, Building, Landscape, Ground
      maintenance, etc.
    2. Leadership Roles – become involved [ministries, readings, teaching
      choir]
    3. Administrative Help – bulletins, mailings, AV during services
    4. Help organize/work projects
    5. Helping bring religion to shut-ins
    6. Help seniors fill out forms (forms - insurance, income taxes, write letters/cards, etc.)
  2. Meals on Wheels – deliver vital nutritional meals to shut-ins
  3. Volunteer to drive people without means of transportation to medical appt, grocery, bank
  4. Volunteer with a Scout troop as leader, scoutmaster, responsible party
  5. Volunteer to help build at a Habitat for Humanity site
  6. Volunteer at a local hospital
  7. Volunteer at local Food Pantry
  8. Offer to help dish up meals at local missions [Wheeler Mission, Salvation Army, Good News Mission [here in Indy]
  9. Volunteer at the Gennsaret Free Clinic [here in Indy]
  10. Be a BIG BROTHER or BIG SISTER in your community
  11. Little League, Softball, Football, Baseball, Kickball coach/trainer
  12. Band Dads, Band Moms, Field Trip Chaperones
  13. Volunteer at a Cancer or Aids Center in your community
  14. Volunteer at an orphanage in your community
  15. Volunteer for PTA leadership
  16. Adopt a section of highway to keep clean
  17. If you have a hobby or skill, volunteer to teach a class with adults, teens, children through your church, senior center, youth center, inner city centers
    1. Woodworking/carving/building/painting/plumbing basic repair, etc.
    2. Car/motorcycle repair/ “tricked out” remodeling
    3. Outdoor skills such as hunting, fishing, archery, gun safety
    4. Computers – help others learn today’s technology [senior centers, schools, church, etc.]
    5. Photography skills – organize a photo shoot at a local park
    6. Teach a second language; Spanish, etc…, Sign language
    7. Teach life skills – young married or unmarried teens
    8. Teach Sports skills [sportsmanship, fair play]
  18. Volunteer at local Senior Citizen Center play cards, games, just talk with lonely residents, teach computer skills, transport persons if necessary
  19. Volunteer at local animal shelter/humane society
  20. Volunteer to help clean and maintain grounds and property at nearby State Park
  21. Volunteer at local “Special Ed” School
    1. Chaperone a field trip to circus, ice show, Christmas shows, movies, shopping
    2. Teach simple everyday skills
